Man shot by German police after stealing excavator

A man in Germany was shot dead by police after stealing an excavator and driving it onto public roads. He injured three officers and damaged several vehicles with the machinery.

The 38-year-old took the excavator from a construction company in Grünsfeld, Baden-Württemberg, where he allegedly worked. He then drove to Tauberbischofsheim, causing damage to police and civilian vehicles and injuring three officers along the way.

Police attempted to stop the man by blocking the road. He was shot after causing damage at a car dealership and died at the scene.

His motive remains unknown, and it is unclear if he was an employee of the construction company.
