Major Fire at Industrial Site in Goes Extinguished After 30 Hours

A large fire that broke out on Saturday at an industrial site in Goes was extinguished after more than 30 hours. The fire department announced around midnight that the final operations were completed.

The fire began at around 3:30 PM at a company that repairs electronics, with flames soon emerging from the roof. The fire caused smoke nuisance in the surrounding area.

Although the fire appeared under control that night, it reignited the following morning. By 9:00 PM last night, the situation was declared under control, and firefighters continued with extinguishing and demolition work overnight.

More than 200 firefighters were involved in combating the fire over the past days. Personnel present when the fire broke out managed to evacuate safely, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains unknown. A significant portion of the building was destroyed, with owner William de Ruyter estimating around 10,000 square meters were ruined.

The intense heat prevented firefighters from entering the building quickly. De Ruyter noted seeing iron melt and described the fire as devastating.

Despite the damage, he remains hopeful and is actively working on a restart at a new location, which is his top priority.
