Lukashenko’s Dominance in Belarus Election

On the streets of Minsk, there is little evidence of a political campaign. A few posters are visible, occasionally featuring different candidates, but that is the extent of it.

There is no doubt about who will win the presidential election in Belarus today. Even the presumed victor, President Alexander Lukashenko, appears uninterested in the campaign.

“I don’t have time for that,” he stated earlier this week while addressing workers at a car factory. A seventh term, on top of the 30 years he has already been in power, is assured.
