Lelystad-Enkhuizen dike closed for repairs

The Lelystad-Enkhuizen dike is closed for most of the day. Rijkswaterstaat made this decision after cracks were discovered during an inspection yesterday afternoon in the steel support structure of the Houtrib Bridge near Lelystad.

According to Omroep Flevoland, Rijkswaterstaat is repairing the cracks by welding them shut. Following this, the asphalt layer on the bridge deck will be inspected and repaired if necessary.

The closure is expected to last until 3:00 PM today, but Rijkswaterstaat warns that work may extend until 6:00 PM. Traffic is advised to detour via Amsterdam.

The cracks were found around 3:30 PM yesterday in the bridge deck near the Batavia area. Rijkswaterstaat immediately closed the bridge and dike to truck traffic, with a full closure for all traffic starting at 7:00 AM this morning.
