Large Bike Sculpture Stolen from Veluwe aan Zee

A large bicycle sculpture at Veluwe aan Zee in Putten was stolen this past weekend. The artwork, weighing nearly 600 kilograms and measuring over five by five meters, was discovered missing by Leisurelands, the site’s manager.

A spokesperson described the theft as bizarre, noting the site’s inaccessibility by car. Leisurelands has filed a police report and expressed disappointment over the loss.

In 2012, the sculpture was temporarily taken by members of a cycling event in Westerbork but was returned after a week. The manager hopes for the sculpture’s return and urges anyone with information to come forward.
