Jay-Z seeks dismissal of rape case amid inconsistencies

Rapper Jay-Z has requested the court to dismiss a rape case against him and fellow rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, following reports of inconsistencies in the accuser’s statement, as reported by BBC. The civil case accuses the two of raping a 13-year-old girl 24 years ago after the MTV Awards.

Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, denies the allegations and claims blackmail. The anonymous accuser, referred to as “Jane Doe,” admitted errors in her story during an NBC News interview but maintains her accusations.

NBC found discrepancies, including her father’s lack of recollection of picking her up from the party and conflicting accounts of conversations with another celebrity not in New York at the time. NBC notes that inconsistencies do not necessarily disprove the claims.

Carter stated the incident did not occur and criticized the filing and media attention. He urged for a criminal complaint rather than a civil one for such severe allegations.
