Israeli military raid on Gaza hospital amid ongoing conflict

The Israeli military has entered Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, as reported by hospital staff to the BBC and Reuters. Dozens of patients are being forcibly evacuated from the facility.

Staff also report that the military set parts of the hospital on fire. The Israeli military confirms the raid, stating that Hamas members have used the hospital as a base during the conflict.

Israel says it facilitated the “safe evacuation of civilians, patients, and medical staff prior to the operation.” The hospital complex has been targeted multiple times, and last night, at least five staff members were killed in Israeli attacks, according to the hospital director. On Monday, the director was informed to close the facility and evacuate patients, a task he described as “almost impossible.” He noted the danger posed to ICU patients who are in comas and require ventilation, stating that their relocation is risky.

Kamal Adwan Hospital was one of the last remaining treatment centers for the injured in northern Gaza. The building also temporarily housed hundreds of displaced individuals.

The humanitarian situation in northern Gaza is dire, with international aid organizations having withdrawn weeks ago and Israel blocking most aid supplies.
