Indian actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder in his Bandra apartment, a suburb of Mumbai. The 54-year-old actor was stabbed six times with a knife and is currently stable after emergency surgery.
The assailant remains at large. The incident occurred around 2:00 AM.
A long-serving nanny reported that the intruder entered a bedroom where Ali Khan’s four-year-old son was sleeping and demanded 10 million rupees (approximately 112,000 euros). When the nanny tried to prevent the intruder from approaching the child, she was attacked and injured on her wrist.
Her screams alerted another household staff member, who then woke the actor and his wife. Ali Khan confronted the intruder, who attacked him before fleeing.
A police investigation is ongoing, and a large-scale search operation is underway. Ali Khan was taken to the hospital around 3:00 AM, where a piece of the knife was removed from a wound near his spine, according to the hospital director.
Saif Ali Khan is a major figure in the Indian film industry. His wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, urged media and paparazzi to refrain from speculation, requesting privacy for the family.
The attack has caused significant unrest, particularly due to the upscale location of the apartment complex where many wealthy individuals reside. How the intruder entered the complex remains unclear; released footage shows the man exiting through an emergency exit.
