The police have received hundreds of tips regarding the art theft at the Drents Museum in Assen, as announced on Tuesday evening in the program Opsporing Verzocht. The tips concern the whereabouts of the suspects after stealing the artworks and their contacts.
“We aim to recover the stolen items using this information,” said the police. Following a previous broadcast of Opsporing Verzocht last week, 120 new tips were received about the theft.
Three suspects are in custody: two men and a woman from Heerhugowaard. The police tracked them down with the discovery of a bag and clothing in Assen.
Last week, the police shared photos of the two men and disclosed their identities after they refused to reveal the location of the stolen art. The theft involved Romanian masterpieces, including an almost pure gold helmet and three bracelets, borrowed from the National History Museum in Bucharest.
