Hepatitis A linked to frozen berries sold by Dutch retailer

Twelve people have contracted hepatitis A after consuming frozen blueberries sold by Albert Heijn, according to the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). Two of the cases required hospitalization.

Hepatitis A is a notifiable disease, and the first case was reported at the end of November. The berries, which were sold until yesterday, tested positive for hepatitis A in samples taken by the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA).
