Henk de Roo, singer of The Dutch Boys, has passed away at the age of 69. Known for the 1982 hit “Boer Harms,” De Roo died unexpectedly last night, as announced by bandmates Cor Maatje and Jans Hoogeveen on Facebook.
In early October, it was revealed he had esophageal cancer, and he ceased performing in November due to declining health. The Dutch Boys rose to fame in 1980 with the song “Eppo,” and “Boer Harms” became their biggest hit two years later.
The remaining band members announced that the release of a recent recording with the band Mooi Wark will be postponed.
