The farewell concerts of the Dutch rock band Golden Earring sold out within an hour this morning. According to the organizers, there were 80,000 people in the virtual queue at 10:00 a.m.
On Tuesday, the band announced their farewell concert, “One Last Night,” scheduled for January 30. Due to high demand, four additional shows were added on January 26, 27, 28, and 29.
No further concerts will be added. Five euros from each ticket will be donated to ALS research and treatment, an incurable neurological disease.
The band ceased performing in 2021 after guitarist George Kooymans was diagnosed with ALS. Kooymans performed his last show in 2019 and will not participate in the farewell series but is involved in the process.
“It will be very difficult to have George with us,” said guitarist Cesar Zuiderwijk. The band members declined to comment further about him.
Other artists will perform alongside the rockers, including Di-rect, Maan, Danny Vera, Acda and De Munnik, and Davina Michelle.
