A 25-year-old German woman from Ingolstadt has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a lookalike. A 26-year-old Kosovar man also received a life sentence for the same crime.
Investigators revealed that Iraqi-German Shahraban K. sought to fake her own death due to family conflicts and assume the identity of the murdered woman to start a new life. She used social media to find a lookalike and arranged a meeting, during which the 23-year-old victim was killed with 56 stab wounds, aided by the Kosovar man.
The victim’s body was discovered by K.’s parents in her Mercedes, initially believed to be their daughter. However, it was later confirmed to be the body of Algerian Khadidja M. from Heilbronn.
K. and her accomplice were arrested shortly after the body was found. During the trial, it was revealed that K. had also attempted to have her brother-in-law murdered, for which she was convicted of attempted murder.
