German Interior Minister Faeser Faces Questions on Attack

German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser addressed a parliamentary committee regarding the events leading up to the Magdeburg attack on December 20. A vehicle plowed into visitors at a crowded Christmas market, resulting in five deaths and over two hundred injuries.

Faeser spoke to the press following the session. The suspect had been known to authorities for years, raising frustration over the attack’s failure to be prevented.

According to Bild, the suspect has been considered “potentially dangerous” since 2015. Politicians from various parties sought clarification ahead of the session.
