Since last summer, funeral director Mijndert Rebel from Huizen has been personally delivering condolence cards, citing dissatisfaction with PostNL. He established his own service using bicycles after noticing increasing issues with late or undelivered cards.
Residents of Huizen now assist in the timely delivery, including Loes Veelo-van de Kuinder, who cycles around town distributing the cards. PostNL acknowledged delivery issues due to staffing shortages in June 2024 but claimed services returned to normal by July.
Rebel, however, continues with his new service and considers expanding to nearby towns.
