Flights Cancelled at Schiphol Due to Dense Fog

Due to dense fog, dozens of flights have been canceled at Schiphol Airport. Travelers should anticipate delays at the airport.

Code yellow has been issued this morning for nearly all of the Netherlands because of locally dense fog, with visibility in some areas reduced to less than 200 meters. The KNMI’s weather warning for drivers is in effect until 11:00 AM.

According to an airport spokesperson, the issues at Schiphol will not be immediately resolved afterward, and delays and cancellations may continue throughout the day. Airlines independently decide whether to cancel flights.

Schiphol processes approximately 1,200 flights daily. In Friesland, a head-on collision occurred this morning between a van and a car.

It is still unclear to what extent the fog contributed to the accident. Two people were injured, reports Omrop Fryslân.

The N351 near Makkinga is completely closed for investigation.
