Since 1996, viewers have been tuning in on Sunday mornings to watch FishTV. Today marks the beginning of its 30th season.
Hosted by biologist Marco Kraal, the show appeals not only to fishing enthusiasts but also to those who appreciate the beauty of the Dutch landscape. Kraal notes that many viewers, including students, enjoy the program for its relaxed pace.
Over the years, it has attracted a multi-generational audience. Episodes often feature fishing excursions in natural areas, such as the Regge River and the Valleikanaal.
Despite long filming days at times, the show remains authentic, even airing episodes where no fish were caught. Kraal emphasizes the practice of catch-and-release, though he personally sees no issue with occasionally eating fish.
He expresses enthusiasm for continuing the program for many more years, having explored 350 waterways but still eager for more.
