Firearm Found in Car after Police Chase Crash near Rekken

Police discovered a firearm and brass knuckles in a car that crashed near Rekken, in the Achterhoek region, following a police chase yesterday. The 46-year-old driver died in the accident.

According to Omroep Gelderland, police conducted a “check” on the vehicle late in the afternoon, but the reason for this has not been disclosed. The driver immediately fled, prompting a police pursuit until the car crashed into a tree around 5:45 PM on Rekkenseweg, near the German border.

The driver from Aalten died instantly, while the two other passengers were injured.
