Fire Forces Evacuation of 50 Residents in Tilburg Complex

A fire in a student housing complex in Tilburg led to the evacuation of approximately fifty residents. The fire started around 1:45 a.m.

in an apartment on the fifth floor of the complex located on Verbernelaan. Shortly after 2:00 a.m., the fire department began evacuating the units, and residents were temporarily sheltered in an adjacent building.

According to a regional safety authority spokesperson, most residents were in communal areas when the fire began. No injuries were reported, and firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to other apartments.

By around 2:30 a.m., the fire was under control, and some residents were allowed to return home. The apartment where the fire originated was declared uninhabitable due to smoke and soot damage.

Residents of the affected fifth-floor apartment and five units on the fourth floor could not return that night and were accommodated by other students. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
