A large fire has destroyed a pancake restaurant in Ede. The fire brigade received the call at around 01:15.
By the time they arrived at Verlengde Arnhemseweg (N224), the fire was already extensive, according to the fire department. The road is closed in both directions to allow water transport.
Footage shows flames reaching meters above the former farmhouse’s roof. The fire brigade prevented the fire from spreading to a nearby restaurant, but the pancake restaurant is almost completely destroyed.
The fire is under control, but the fire brigade is still extinguishing it. The cause is unknown, and no one was present in the restaurant.
The property owner, according to an on-site photojournalist, expressed shock and mentioned that the building was also completely destroyed by fire about twelve years ago.
