The iconic Morrison Hotel in downtown Los Angeles has been severely damaged by a fire. Flames engulfed the four-story building for about two hours before a team of approximately 100 firefighters brought the blaze under control.
The Morrison Hotel is renowned for its appearance on the cover of The Doors’ 1970 album of the same name. Music photographer Henry Diltz captured the iconic image a year prior, despite initial resistance from the hotel staff.
Several people were rescued from the building today, but no injuries were reported. The roof has collapsed, raising doubts about the building’s restoration prospects.
Once a hotel, the site has recently been used for firefighter training.
