A fire at an eleven-story hotel in a ski resort in northwest Turkey has resulted in casualties: ten people have died, and 32 were injured, according to local authorities. The fire started at 3:30 AM local time on the fourth floor of a hotel in Kartalkaya.
Nighttime footage shows a significant portion of the hotel ablaze, including the roof and upper floors. Two people died after jumping from the building in panic, reported the governor in a live broadcast on TRT.
Firefighters have been working to extinguish the blaze since last night, according to Governor Aydin of the province where the ski resort is located. There were a total of 234 guests in the building.
The fire is now largely under control, according to the governor. The fire is believed to have originated on the floor where a restaurant was located, but the cause is still unknown.
An investigation has been launched.
