Fernando Halman wins Marconi Oeuvre Award

Fernando Halman, a DJ from FunX, has been awarded the Marconi Oeuvre Award. He received this prestigious industry accolade during a 15-hour radio marathon celebrating the 15th anniversary of his morning show, “Start met Fernando,” which is the longest-running morning show currently on air.

Humberto Tan, a sidekick during the marathon, announced Halman’s win and praised him as an “influential and beloved radio personality.” Tan admired Halman’s dedication, noting his consistent early starts and ability to inspire and support others. Halman expressed surprise but affirmed his lifelong commitment to radio.

The jury highlighted Halman’s role in inspiring a new generation and his significant impact on Dutch media. The marathon broadcast continues until 9:00 PM today on FunX from the Melkweg in Amsterdam, featuring performances and guest sidekicks.

Nominations for the Marconi Award for Best Station include NPO FunX, NPO Radio 5, and Radio 538, while emerging talents Dylan Boet, Julia van Reyendam, and Nawa Sira van Sluijs are also nominated. The awards, including the Golden RadioRing, will be presented next week at the RadioGala organized by AVROTROS on January 30th.
