In Naaldwijk, several individuals became unwell after Extinction Rebellion activists threw a foul-smelling liquid in an H&M clothing store. The store was evacuated and closed following the incident.
People who felt unwell were examined by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment. Police investigations revealed the substance was not harmful, though its exact nature remains unknown.
Two suspects have been arrested. An XR spokesperson informed Omroep West that the substance used was butyric acid, intended to protest H&M’s fast fashion practices.
The spokesperson stated that it was not their intention to make people unwell, and the activists were startled by the outcome.
