In a suburb of Sydney, Australia, an abandoned caravan containing explosives and a list of Jewish targets was discovered. The caravan had been parked for several weeks along a road in the town of Dural, northwest of Sydney.
A local resident decided to investigate on January 19 and found the explosives and list. Police found evidence suggesting the explosives were intended for antisemitic attacks, referring to the incident as a potential terror attack.
“Threat Neutralized” Over a hundred detectives have been assigned to the case. Arrests have been made, but police are still seeking information on who placed the caravan there.
Authorities have no evidence of additional explosives in the area targeting Jews or Jewish sites. “We believe we have neutralized the threat,” police stated.
Recently, Australia has experienced more antisemitic incidents and attacks. Since the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, and the subsequent large-scale violence by the Israeli military in Gaza, tensions within Australian society have significantly increased.
