Evening traffic congestion worsens due to Sinterklaas Eve

Evening traffic congestion began an hour earlier today, around 4:30 PM, with over 900 kilometers of traffic jams due to Sinterklaas Eve. The ANWB had forewarned of increased traffic as people leave work early to celebrate the event.

By 3:00 PM, traffic jams extended to 200 kilometers, which doubled by 4:00 PM to over 650 kilometers, twice the usual amount for that time. The Randstad area, particularly around The Hague, Rotterdam, and Amsterdam, is experiencing significant delays.

The peak traffic is expected between 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM, usually occurring a bit later. Although rain is forecast for tonight, it has not yet significantly affected traffic conditions, according to an ANWB spokesperson.
