The abuse case in Enkhuizen is more extensive than previously reported, with the Public Prosecution Service suspecting 27-year-old Winston A. of grooming hundreds of boys, repeatedly raping a 13-year-old boy, and sexually abusing two other minors. This was revealed during the initial pro forma hearing in Alkmaar today.
This fall, the justice department disclosed that Winston A. allegedly coerced boys into sending sexually explicit content via Snapchat. Following his arrest in September, nearly 500 folders containing images of boys aged 10 to 16 were found on his computer, with the first images dating back to 2016.
He posed as a young, attractive girl using names like Britt, Milou, Tess, or Suus to lure victims. Two victims’ reports initiated the investigation, now with ten formal complaints filed.
Six victims remain unidentified, including one allegedly abused in a locker room. During the hearing, Winston A. expressed remorse and admitted to often being under the influence of alcohol, which he claimed led to his actions.
Despite earlier reports, police only began investigating this year due to a lack of resources. Richard Korver, a lawyer for abuse victims, expressed no surprise at the case’s delay, citing a shortage of specialized investigators and a new sex crime law that has increased the caseload.
