Emma and Noah were the most selected baby names last year, according to the Social Insurance Bank. A total of 922 boys were named Noah, and 657 girls were named Emma.
Noah had also been the most popular boy’s name in the previous five years. Emma had previously been popular and ranked fourth in 2023.
Last year, 165,594 babies were born: 84,990 boys and 80,604 girls. For boys, Luca and Lucas were the second and third most popular names, while for girls, Olivia and Nora held those spots.
The most popular gender-neutral name was Charlie, given to 156 girls and 156 boys. Robin (68 girls and 64 boys) and Sammy (11 girls and 10 boys) ranked second and third in the gender-neutral category.
