In Germany, a 76-year-old man caused a fire on a train while attempting to make coffee with a portable gas stove. Fellow passengers were able to prevent further damage by pulling the emergency brake and extinguishing the fire.
The incident occurred yesterday on a train traveling from Hamburg to Kiel in northern Germany. During the journey, the man set up a gas stove on his suitcase, which caught fire, filling the train with smoke.
Passengers alerted the police and pulled the emergency brake, while one passenger managed to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher. The train continued to Neumünster, where police were waiting on the platform.
The man suffered burn injuries and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. His suitcase and the train seat were severely damaged, and he now faces legal action for causing the damage and negligence-related arson.
