Dutchman sentenced to life in Sweden for wife’s murder

In Sweden, a 37-year-old Dutchman has been sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his wife with a sword. The couple, who emigrated from the Netherlands to Arvika in 2021, was mentioned in a report by the Swedish news site Aftonbladet.

According to the site, Rivallo P. killed his wife in August last year because he was angry over her desire to divorce. He reportedly used a nearly two-kilogram sword to stab her in the abdomen.

One of their children allegedly called emergency services in panic after the incident. Emergency responders found the severely injured mother, who later died from her injuries.

P. was found near the house, reportedly heavily intoxicated. An investigation revealed that the perpetrator had no severe mental disorders, leading the Karlstad court not to order treatment.

He gave conflicting statements about the incident, at one point claiming he was “joking” with the sword. According to Aftonbladet, the couple’s children have been taken in by relatives in the Netherlands.
