Dutch F-35s intercept Russian aircraft over Baltic Sea

Dutch F-35 aircraft intercepted Russian planes over the Baltic Sea yesterday, according to Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans. The operation involved two bombers reportedly carrying supersonic missiles.

The mission was conducted alongside Finland and Sweden, escorting the Russian aircraft away from NATO airspace. The intercepted planes included a Sukhoi-27 and a Sukhoi-30 fighter jet.

This is not the first interception by the Netherlands in the area; earlier this month on December 6, a transport aircraft and a Sukhoi-24 fighter jet were intercepted. The Netherlands has stationed four F-35s in Estonia since the beginning of this month to safeguard NATO airspace.
