Dutch Authority Seizes 66,000 Illegal Vapes Last Month

Inspectors from the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) confiscated nearly 66,000 illegal vapes and vape liquids last month. Since the beginning of this year, the sale of flavored vapes, other than tobacco flavor, has been prohibited, allowing the NVWA to seize illegal vapes and e-liquids.

However, they remain relatively easy to acquire, as reported by NOS Stories. The seized products were found in seven locations in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Almere, and Eindhoven and will be destroyed.

Most violators are not further detailed by the NVWA, except for one shop owner in Almere. This proprietor was found with 28,000 flavored vapes and bottles, which were confiscated.

The shop owner continued illegal online sales and inspectors discovered over 5,000 vapes in a storage locker. Additionally, 10 kilograms of cannabis buds were seized from the shop.

Importers and shops face fines up to 4,500 euros for dealing with flavored electronic cigarettes and must cover destruction costs. Repeated violations can lead to fines reaching 22,500 euros.
