Drug lord Piet S. has been ordered by the court to forfeit €19 million to the Public Prosecution Service, as it was determined he earned this from selling 1000 kilograms of cocaine. The prosecution initially sought to claim over €99 million from S. and his accomplices, alleging he sold 4600 kilograms of cocaine.
However, the court acquitted him of selling 3600 kilograms. Piet S., 68, led a criminal organization smuggling drugs worldwide, dealing in large quantities of cocaine, hashish, amphetamines, crystal meth, heroin, and ecstasy.
The group engaged in bribery and money laundering through various businesses. Last year, S. was sentenced to seventeen years in prison, a year more than the prosecution demanded, due to the “undermining impact of international drug trade on society.” The prosecution aimed to not only imprison S. and his accomplices but also seize the organization’s drug profits.
The investigation previously seized hundreds of thousands of euros, luxury cars, watches, boats, and real estate. The prosecution argued this as evidence of S. earning millions, much of which is believed to be hidden.
The prosecution estimated S.’s drug earnings at nearly €100 million, but the court could only trace €19 million directly to drug sales.
