In Eindhoven, a car driver sustained serious injuries after crashing into a tree following a police chase, according to Omroep Brabant. The police reported that the vehicle was a rental car and has been seized for investigation.
The pursuit began after a report of a suspicious situation. Upon arrival, the police observed a car with German license plates speeding away.
Multiple police vehicles joined the chase, and speeds reportedly increased significantly, according to an officer who spoke to Omroep Brabant. The police found it challenging to keep up with the car, which ran several red lights.
While on the Aalsterweg in southern Eindhoven, the driver entered a bus lane and lost control after a few hundred meters, hitting several trees before coming to a stop against another tree. The vehicle was severely damaged, and the driver was trapped inside.
Emergency services rescued the driver, who was then taken to a trauma center in Tilburg. The police have not disclosed any information regarding the initial suspicious situation.
