De Volksbank will continue under the name ASN, eliminating the SNS, RegioBank, and BLG Wonen brands. The decision was made because ASN is seen as a leader in sustainable and socially responsible banking.
Customers of SNS and RegioBank, and mortgage holders with BLG Wonen, will soon see ASN branding on their apps. ASN customers will also have access to current SNS or RegioBank branches.
The change aims to enhance the bank’s competitive position and reduce costs by operating under a single brand. Three historical names will be retired, as SNS originated from regional savings banks in the late 1980s and later merged with insurer Reaal.
Nationalized during the financial crisis, the bank has struggled to become profitable enough for sale. New CEO Roland Boekhout plans to streamline operations, reducing staff by 750 and branches from over 600 to around 320 by the end of 2026.
Customers should notice little technical change, as the brands already share a system.
