Cyclist killed in collision with military vehicle

A 67-year-old man died in Overijssel on Wednesday afternoon following a collision with a Royal Netherlands Marechaussee vehicle. The incident occurred on the provincial road between Wijhe and Raalte.

The man was riding a bicycle and may have been attempting to cross the road when he was struck by the vehicle, which was being used for driving instruction, according to RTV Oost. The Marechaussee has not commented on whether the vehicle was exceeding the speed limit at the time.

The accident is being investigated by the Internal Investigations Section of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee under the supervision of the Public Prosecution Service of East Netherlands.
