Cyberattack at Eindhoven University Involved Stolen Credentials

Stolen login credentials from at least one staff member and one student were used in a cyberattack on Eindhoven University of Technology discovered two weeks ago, according to de Volkskrant. The credentials were reportedly obtained through software known as an ‘infostealer.’ Pieter Philippaerts, a cybersecurity researcher at KU Leuven in Belgium, explained that infostealers are designed to steal various types of information, including login data.

Harm Griffioen from TU Delft further elaborated that infected devices send vast amounts of information to attackers, with passwords being particularly valuable to criminals.
