Court Rules Investigation into Former Speaker Arib Lawful

The investigation into former Dutch House Speaker Khadija Arib was deemed lawful by the court in The Hague. Arib had filed a lawsuit against the investigation into allegations of inappropriate behavior.

She argued that the inquiry should not have been initiated by the presidium, the Dutch House of Representatives’ executive committee. However, the court stated that the House had an obligation “as an employer” to investigate the reports of an unsafe work environment.

The court also noted that the investigation adhered to the applicable regulations.
