Concert in Amsterdam RAI canceled due to safety concerns

A concert at Amsterdam’s RAI convention center was canceled on Saturday night at the last minute due to a “safety situation” for attendees, as reported by the police on social media. At the time, slightly over one thousand guests were present in the venue where Afghan singer Sharafat Parwani was set to perform, and they were asked to leave calmly.

The venue was cleared by around 11:15 PM, according to a police spokesperson, who noted that the evacuation proceeded without issues. While the spokesperson could not specify the nature of the threat, it was described as a “serious threat” to the attendees.

The decision to cancel the concert was made earlier in the evening by Amsterdam’s mayor, the public prosecutor, and the police, deeming the threat significant enough to warrant the cancellation.
