Residents in the IJsselmonde district of Rotterdam-Zuid are mourning the loss of three individuals who were allegedly shot by the same man over the past two weeks. No motive has been identified, and it appears the victims were strangers to the suspect.
Today, older residents gathered at the SOL community center for coffee and conversation. Among them was 71-year-old Martha, who lost an uncle in the incident.
She received a message about a man being shot on Bommelerwaard and feared it was her Uncle Bram. Her suspicions were confirmed later.
The suspect, a 24-year-old man without a fixed address, was arrested nearby. He had barricaded himself on a balcony on the second floor of a salmon-pink building on Emelissedijk.
