Coffins with cocaine found on Dutch highway

Yesterday evening, police discovered two coffins filled with cocaine in a van on the A29 highway near Numansdorp. The driver, a 30-year-old Frenchman, was arrested.

The vehicle was likely headed to Rotterdam and attracted attention due to suspicious driving behavior, as reported by regional broadcaster Rijnmond. Police stopped the van and questioned the driver, who claimed to be transporting two bodies in coffins.

However, his paperwork was incorrect, prompting officers to drive to a funeral director to clarify the situation. At the funeral director’s, the coffins were found to contain sports bags with over 250 kilograms of cocaine, valued at 13 million euros.

The police have not disclosed the origin or intended destination of the drugs.
