CO2 price in Europe falls short for green transition

Currently, European companies pay approximately 71 euros per metric ton of CO2 emissions, a price experts say is insufficient to drive significant sustainability efforts, according to reports by NOS. The European Emissions Trading System (ETS), which has been in place since 2005 to incentivize energy-heavy industries to reduce emissions, involves around 10,000 participating companies across 30 countries, accounting for about half of the EU’s CO2 emissions.
