Kevin Hassing will author this year’s Children’s Book Week gift, fitting the theme ‘Full of Adventure!’. The gift book is often given free with the purchase of a children’s book during the event.
Being selected as the author is considered an honor. Last year’s edition had over 336,000 copies printed.
Hassing is known for the series Mus and Captain Badbeard, featuring the brave orphan girl Mus. He has won the Children’s Jury Prize, a prominent public award for children’s books, for the past three years.
This year’s Children’s Book Week runs from October 1 to 12, aiming to ignite or enhance the reading enjoyment of children. The organizing foundation CPNB has also announced the creators of the Picture Book of the Children’s Book Week: Levina van Teunenbroek and Charlotte Bruijn, who are celebrated for their series Knight Without Buttocks, which will have a new installment for the occasion.
Simon van der Geest is the Children’s Book Week poet this year.
