Cargo ship adrift in North Sea storm

A cargo ship named Valday is adrift in the North Sea due to a storm, as reported by the Coast Guard. The vessel, carrying seven crew members and no cargo, is drifting southward approximately 22 kilometers off the coast near Rotterdam.

The storm has brought winds of force 8 to 9, with waves reaching up to 4 meters high. Efforts by the Coast Guard to secure the ship to a tugboat have been unsuccessful so far, and an additional tugboat is en route.

Other cargo ships are also experiencing difficulties, with engines failing or ships losing their anchor positions due to the storm.
