Rescue workers in Pennsylvania have recovered the body of a woman from a sinkhole, who had been missing since Tuesday. It was suspected that she fell into the sinkhole near where her car was parked.
The 64-year-old Elizabeth Pollard left with her 5-year-old granddaughter on Monday night to search for her cat. The temperature dropped below freezing that night.
Her family raised the alarm when she was still not home by 1:00 AM. The car was found near a restaurant with the granddaughter asleep inside.
Approximately six meters away, police discovered a small sinkhole, large enough for a person to disappear into. A shoe was soon found at a depth of nine meters, but it took four days to locate and retrieve the body.
