Bird Flu Detected in Belgian Poultry Farm

Bird flu has been confirmed at a broiler farm in Sint-Gillis-Waas, a Belgian municipality near Hulst in the Netherlands. Earlier, on February 18, bird flu had already been identified at a laying hen farm in the same area.

Recently, it was revealed that two cats in Sint-Gillis-Waas were infected, likely from drinking contaminated water. To prevent further spread, all birds at the broiler farm will be culled, and all poultry within a 10-kilometer radius must be shielded.

Additionally, there is a transport ban on poultry and eggs, affecting even a small part of the Netherlands where one poultry farm is located.
