Belgian police have issued a search notice for a woman missing for 14 years. Her disappearance went unnoticed for 13 years with no report filed.
The case came to light last year. Heidi de Schepper, missing since 2010, lived in Balen with her partner and three children.
She had minimal social interactions and cut ties with her family at 18. In May 2010, a driver’s license was requested in her name, potentially by her or someone else.
Her ID card hasn’t been renewed since 2011. Despite her disappearance, no missing person report was filed by her partner, who stated she left suddenly, taking all her belongings.
The case emerged last year following a report from one of her children’s schools. An investigation over the past year yielded no results.
Belgian media link her case to another unsolved disappearance in the area from 2008. Police are considering various scenarios.
