BBB leader denies internal discord in party

BBB leader Van der Plas refutes claims of discord within her party and asserts that decisions in the parliamentary group are made democratically by the majority. Responding to the unexpected resignation of BBB MP Lilian Helder, Van der Plas states that everyone who knows her is aware she is not undemocratic or authoritarian.

Helder announced her departure during a justice debate, surprising her faction. She expressed feeling unheard in the BBB and not consulted on justice matters or the main agreement with PVV, VVD, NSC, and BBB.

Van der Plas disagrees with Helder’s assessment, attributing the issues to the party’s nascent nature and inevitable growing pains. Additionally, six out of fifteen provincial council members in Overijssel also left, citing irreconcilable differences.

Van der Plas maintains that BBB’s performance is strong in other political arenas, despite the challenges.
