An Australian pilot, Daniel Duggan, is set to be extradited to the United States over allegations of collaborating with the Chinese military. Arrested in 2022, Duggan is accused of violating arms trade laws by training Chinese military pilots between 2009 and 2012.
U.S. authorities claim he received approximately $100,000 for illegally instructing pilots on aircraft carrier operations without U.S. government approval. If convicted, he could face up to 65 years in prison.
Duggan, who became an Australian citizen 13 years ago, has been detained in New South Wales since his arrest. Last Friday, the Attorney General approved his extradition, despite Duggan denying the charges.
