Appeals Court Upholds Trump’s Verdict in Carroll Case

The verdict against Donald Trump in the case filed by writer E. Jean Carroll remains upheld, as decided by a federal appeals court. The former U.S. president had filed an appeal seeking to overturn the $5 million damages awarded to Carroll.

Trump was convicted in May last year for sexual abuse and defamation. Carroll alleges that Trump raped her in a luxury department store fitting room in the mid-1990s.

The jury dismissed the rape accusation but imposed damages for assault and defamation. Trump criticized the ruling as a disgrace, claiming he had no knowledge of who Carroll was and accused her of fabricating the rape to sell her memoirs.

E. Jean Carroll is a former columnist for Elle magazine. In a separate defamation lawsuit, Trump is required to pay Carroll $83 million.

Carroll stated that Trump’s statements have led to death threats, and she now sleeps with a weapon beside her bed out of fear. Trump claims that President Biden is behind a witch hunt against him, although he has not provided evidence for this claim.
